                1. @protocode_227

"why help them, just build everything from scratch" - that's the spirit! 🤣

I totally forgot Chucho plays MtG. Now I want a 1v1, standard or modern, idc :)
                  1. @quicoto

So many developers think that way "I don't like how this is built, I'll create the next big thing". Rather than trying to improve existing frameworks or libraries.

                    2. @evanfuture

Oh, Chucho, I so disagree with you! But I love you anyway. I would say that having this opinion without using it isn't ideal.

For me, it's an essential part of offloading the mental model of JS to the machine. The same way I can't imagine coding without syntax highlighting, I can't imagine coding anymore without types (even if they are inferred and not explicit).
                      1. @quicoto

Oh I like this quote "offloading the mental model of JS to the machine". Thank you Evan 😁
                    3. @protocode_227

😄 I conclude: generally much like "thanks, I hate it". Can be helpful in places, but meh 😅
                      1. @quicoto

😂 I might fought back myself in the beginning but then I came around to like it more :)

📺 Ep. #3: What is a FrontEnd Developer?

                    1. @protocode_227

yea, growth of the frontend ecosystem over the past 15y is insane.

even CSS alone. We had to hack almost everything to have it displayed nicely, nowadays we have more than one tool for each job and a bunch of properties, even CSS functions, we'll probably never use.

now try to explain that frontend masters roadmap to someone who doesn't know what a browser is - I just tell; what we do is 'building the www', and they never ask details. (Un)fortunately :)

at this point I have to think of a meme, too. That guy who's wildly gesturing trying to explain his case with help of the evidence board 😄
                      1. @quicoto

On point! It's hard to answer "What exactly do you do at your job?"

I feel we need to go back to the basic. Drop most of the nonsense and focus on the core, back to HTML, CSS and JS. Fast, lean and performant.

                        Thank you for your comment!

📺 Ep. #1: Why should you have a blog?!

                      1. @JavierCalleRedvisual

I remember getting super excited when I found out about CSS-tricks back in the day and still today it's a good blog of reference for us frontenders.
                        1. @quicoto

First comment on this show! Thank you, Javi. Oh yeah, CSS-tricks has saved me hours of research with their well-done pages and cheat sheets. I was so surprised when DigitalOcean acquired it.
                      2. @albertogarciaariza4077

Great conversation!!!! I've been wanting to begin bloggin for some time, and now you're teasing me a lot!!!. Thanks for sharing your knowledge

Now I will always remember how Chucho lost the 'dignity'. Indeed a sad story 🥲

I actually don't have a blog that I read on a regular basis. But usually it's dev.to, yes, and the usual google results.

There are even people automating generating blogposts out of Twitter threads. That's definitely an interesting compromise on having the best of both worlds (like in fresh custom setup vs popularity of dev.to for example).
                        1. @quicoto

Time to start your own blog 😉
